Celebrating 100000 sims active

At Wanscale, we’re celebrating a special milestone: we’ve surpassed 100,000 active SIM cards. All of these SIMs are managed through our own platform. It’s a number we’re proud of, not because it happened by chance, but because it represents years of innovation, smart decisions, and hard work.

Whether it’s for IoT solutions, Fixed Wireless Access, or mobile backup via 5G, our customers rely on us for reliable, scalable, and always-on connectivity.

IoT SIM cards in unexpected places

What makes these 100,000 active SIM cards so special is their vast variety of applications. They are not only found in smartphones or tablets, but in the most diverse devices and machines:

  • Smart meters that transmit energy consumption in real-time
  • Security cameras and alarm systems with a mobile backup connection
  • GPS trackers for pets, integrated into a collar with an IoT SIM card
  • Cars that share their data via our SIM cards with fleet management systems

Each SIM card sends small amounts of data, sometimes just a few kilobytes per day. But the sum of 100,000 connections means that we process a massive amount of data traffic daily. And that has to happen quickly, securely, and reliably.

Fixed Wireless Access and mobile backup via 5G

One of the fastest-growing applications is Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) – internet via mobile networks. Ideal for locations where no fixed line is available, or as a temporary solution during projects. In combination with Starlink, we can provide lightning-fast internet in areas where traditional providers cannot reach.

Additionally, mobile backup via 5G is becoming increasingly important. In the event of a primary internet connection failure, our 5G solution takes over immediately, ensuring that our customers’ operations remain up and running.

We didn’t reach this milestone of 100,000 active IoT SIM cards by luck or big marketing campaigns. What we do have is:

Jos Beckers

Born and raised in Rijsbergen as the son of an entrepreneurial family, I have gained a wide range of experiences in various sectors from an early age. At the age of twenty, I took my first steps into the ICT industry, and by thirty, I had started my first IT company. Over the years, I have acquired in-depth knowledge and experience in network solutions.

Most people probably know me from IP Visie, the company I co-founded with my partner Fouad, where we both worked for over 15 years. During that time, we gained extensive experience in building a core network distributed across multiple data centers. It was there that I truly learned how crucial data communication is and how the world is becoming increasingly dependent on reliable and secure connectivity.

Connectivity is a patchwork of different technologies, networks, and equipment. It requires the right knowledge and experience to seamlessly integrate all these elements and build complex solutions. This challenging and dynamic field continues to fascinate me, especially as communication plays an ever-growing role in how we work and live.

In my free time, I enjoy staying active and taking long rides on my gravel bike. As a true bon vivant, I love good food and prefer spending my vacations in Italy, my favorite destination.
