Advanced Tracking is an established specialist in communication systems for the maritime sector in France. “How that connection is technically delivered doesn’t matter to them. Whether it is via satellite, 4G/5G, WiFi or a fixed connection, ultimately only one thing matters, that it works.”
At sea, that is far from guaranteed. “Our maritime customers want to stay connected wherever they are in the world on their sailing or motor yacht, maintain access to their files and be able to work reliably. A single connection is not always sufficient. They also want to be confident that their data traffic is properly secured.”
Wanscale brings different connectivity technologies together in one centrally managed and secure environment. If a connection fails or does not perform as expected, the system automatically switches to an available alternative. This creates a robust network that is less dependent on any single provider or technology.
From maritime connectivity to solutions on land
A few years ago, Christophe met Jos Beckers and Fouad el Hajjaj of Wanscale during the Tour de France. The three entrepreneurs immediately connected.
“Jos and Fouad told me about their vision of bringing different forms of connectivity together and managing them from a single environment. Their vision and entrepreneurial spirit appealed to me. I immediately saw the opportunities this could create for our customers.”

The contact between the entrepreneurs continued. As Wanscale evolved into the Operating System for Wide Area Networks, the partnership grew as well. Today, Advanced Tracking is a Wanscale distributor in France.
“We initially offer Wanscale to our customers in the maritime sector,” Christophe explains. “At the same time, we are so enthusiastic about its capabilities that we see this as the starting point for expanding our services on land.”
He sees a clear need there as well. “France has many rural and remote areas where reliable connectivity cannot be taken for granted. For businesses in these areas, dependable connectivity is just as important as it is for our customers at sea.”
One solution, one point of contact
According to Christophe, Wanscale’s strength lies in the combination of continuity, security and simplicity.
“Customers want simplicity. They do not want to manage separate contracts, equipment and management environments from multiple providers themselves. They simply want their connectivity to work. Network management and security come together in a single environment. From the Wanscale Control Center, connections, locations and equipment can be centrally monitored and managed.
“The fact that all of this can be managed from anywhere in the world, with a single organisation as the point of contact, is particularly appealing to our customers,” Christophe concludes. “From the conversations we are having, it is clear that there is strong demand for such a complete and easy-to-manage solution.”
When reliable connectivity at sea becomes critical
For superyachts, connectivity is not just about comfort. Sometimes, it is critical for safety.
When a crew member requires medical assistance or a technical problem requires urgent support from shore, you need to be able to rely on communications being available. Stable connections are also essential for day-to-day operations, including real-time weather information, navigation, managing onboard systems and maintaining secure contact with shore.
In practice, many yachts therefore use a combination of communication technologies:
- Starlink for high-speed data;
- Iridium as a global backup connection;
- 4G and 5G networks when close to shore;
- WiFi networks in marinas.
Each technology comes with its own hardware, subscriptions and management environment. This makes managing connectivity complex, costly and prone to error.
